Have you noticed that pearls are being worn nowadays by fashion icons such as Bella Hadid and Harry Styles, and that at the end of last year, British Vogue noted pearls to be one of the go to looks for 2023?
Do you have pearls (or beads) that require restringing?
Do you have rows of pearls or pearl set jewels and you’d like to know if they are imitation, cultured or natural pearls?
Do you have pieces (pearl or otherwise) that you’d like to have redesigned but don’t know where to start?
This unique event focussed on pearls will provide answers to all of those questions as well as being great fun!
Taking place between 10am and 4pm on February 22nd 2023 at The Marine Hotel in North Berwick, Clare Blatherwick and her team will be delighted to welcome clients to meet master pearl stringer, Renata, who will be visiting North Berwick from London for the occasion.
Tea, coffee and cake will be available throughout the day and clients would be welcome to pop in (as well as book appointments) to take advantage of the following services:

Our incredible pearl stringer Renata will come up from London for the event. She has been featured in The New York Times and regularly strings for the top London jewellery and auction houses as well as for European Royalty. Pearl stringing might sound easy but is in fact one of the most skilled roles within the jewellery trade and the difference between good and average stringing is significant! Renata is undoubtedly at the top of her field, and we are certain this sort of face to face offering isn’t being delivered in East Lothian. Renata will be offering fittings (by appointment) for clients, particularly for those with multi-row necklaces that require a bespoke fitting to the individual’s neck. She will be demonstrating the art of stringing and we can take in stringing projects to be undertaken by Renata on the day or, subject to demand, to be completed later.
Jacqui Mathieson, our highly experienced Edinburgh College of Art trained jewellery designer, will be on hand to offer consultations on redesigning jewellery – including those pearl necklaces that have been gathering dust at the bottom of jewellery boxes, and she can also look at other projects you may have been considering undertaking.
Clare Blatherwick, a jeweller with over 20 years experience and a special interest in pearls having handled some spectacular pearl pieces and lectured internationally on the subject will be on hand to talk about all things pearly!
