We were introduced to Clare after a lecture she gave in which her expert knowledge and enthusiasm for her subject was evident. We were so impressed by her we sought her assistance in sourcing a large, emerald cut diamond and suggested a budget. She took an appropriate amount of time and found exactly what we were after. This was the first of a variety of auction purchases Clare has assisted with, from £1,000 to several hundred thousand pounds. Clare's advice on quality, price and resale desirability has been exemplary.
I have known Clare Blatherwick in a professional capacity for the past six years. Not only does she have outstanding expertise in the fields of gemmology and jewellery, but the manner in which she conveys her knowledge and advice to others is exemplary. On occasions when I seek an independent and informed opinion for my client in relation to jewellery, I have not the slightest hesitation in engaging Clare’s services. The breadth of her knowledge accompanied by her direct and clear approach to business, and her commitment to giving best advice in any given circumstance, combine to make her a specialist of the highest calibre.
Clare recently came to the Royal Scots Club to do a talk on Famous Women Jewellery Collectors as part of our annual Afternoon Tea event. I had some wonderful feedback from the members who said how interesting the talk was and how much they enjoyed looking at all the dazzling images. Clare’s lecture was well thought out, she kept our members entertained and she was a pleasure to work with.
Clare is one of the most highly regarded and best known faces in the jewellery profession in Scotland. We've benefited from her expert advice over the years when acquiring key pieces - advice delivered with the utmost discretion and knowledge of the market. It's always a pleasure to work with Clare and enjoy her good humour, passion for jewellery and artistic flair.
Clare, I wanted to thank you for all your great work in commissioning Peter's signet ring. I really appreciated the time you took to ensure that we got the correct crest and your advice and expertise on the style, size and fit was really very much appreciated. And all done in secret squirrel fashion so that it was a surprise for his birthday! As you know he's really delighted with the result. Thanks again.
We want to thank you for guiding us through the recent sourcing of a replacement for my rings which had gone missing. We thought we could never match it, but you were able to summon up a wide range of alternatives and we are delighted with the result. The ring is stunning and I am much enjoying wearing it. Having the necessary laboratory certificate and valuation also gives us comfort that the future value of the ring can be maintained. In addition, with the money left over from the insurance claim, you were able to secure for me just the kind of dress ring which I had imagined and that too will get regular use into the future. Thanks again for dealing so promptly and efficiently with our needs!
I just wanted to write you a note to say how very much I adore the pendant and chain, it has really beaten all my expectations on how beautiful it could be. It was wasted as a ring! You’ve been an absolute pleasure to work with, and thank you for putting up with my tardy email replies and delayed phone calls. Thank you very much again.
I approached Clare to help with an old ring I had sitting in a box which had been damaged and rarely worn to enquire about the possibility of either repairing or selling it on. Clare was fantastic throughout the process and kept me fully informed via email. After I decided the best option was to sell it Clare put me in touch with an auction house in London where she knew we would get the best auction price and we certainly weren’t disappointed. I would definitely recommend Clare for any jewellery sales and hope to be back to her as a buying customer one day.
I'm holding you entirely responsible for my walking into lamposts as I will be too busy admiring my beautiful new ring!! Thank you - I absolutely love it. I am over the moon it all worked out and feel like the luckiest lady in the land.
I had the very unfortunate mishap of chipping the centre stone of my engagement ring on the zip of my handbag. After getting a couple quotes from two very reputable jewellers, both of which were for replacing the centre stone entirely. I felt reluctant to go down this path as I would be left with a chipped diamond that held the most sentiment for me. Clare had come highly recommended on several threads I had searched on and immediately got in touch with her. From the first meeting to our last meeting (although I’d hope it won’t be our last!), Clare has been extremely knowledgeable, professional and full of advice and amazing ideas. She suggested getting the centre stone recut and replacing the gap with another halo of smaller diamonds. I’ll admit that I am a very indecisive person but I am glad I went along with her design/idea as I could not have been more delighted with the final outcome of my engagement ring. In fact, several family members thought it was more beautiful (as if it could be!) than before. Diamonds are forever and Clare truly accomplished this.
Thank you so much for all your help and advice over the last few weeks. Jennie and I are delighted with the end product and have enjoyed working with you to produce exactly what we had envisaged in the re-structuring of her engagement ring. We are particularly grateful for the time you spent visiting us in our own home and making the experience so much more satisfying than visiting a shop! I feel Jennie now has a special piece of jewellery which not only reflects the light more spectacularly than it did before, but also serves to strengthen our commitment to each other after 38 years. We look forward to working with you again in the future.
