I'm delighted to be back, presenting at Winton Castle, a beautiful Scottish Renaissance castle in East Lothian, a 30-minute drive from Edinburgh. Now an exclusive-use venue, Winton Castle’s remarkable, rich history stretches back over 800 years to the powerful Seton family. My talk on 'The Story of Jewellery in Scotland' follows a Castle tour which will set the scene beautifully for my presentation in the opulent drawing room.

6.30pm 'The Story of Jewellery in Scotland' talk by Clare Blatherwick (45 mins followed by questions)

7.30pm Fizz & Jewels - Enjoy a glass of fizz whilst browsing some beautiful items of jewellery Clare is bringing along.

A second Castle Tour will be available at around 7.30pm for anyone who was not able to make the 6pm slot.

The evening will begin with a guided tour of Winton Castle, a beautiful Scottish Renaissance castle in East Lothian, a 30-minute drive from Edinburgh. Now an exclusive-use venue, Winton Castle’s remarkable, rich history stretches back over 800 years to the powerful Seton family. Winton was attacked by Henry VIII during the Rough Wooing to impress Mary Queen of Scots, then later rebuilt (from 1620) during the Scottish Renaissance when Kings were entertained. Since the 1920’s, Winton Castle has been lived in by the Ogilvy family.

After the Castle tour, you will be treated to an enchanting talk all about ‘The Story of Jewellery in Scotland’ by local jewellery expert Clare Blatherwick in Winton’s opulent drawing room. From Mary Queen of Scots and her ladies in waiting including Mary Seton, a woman inextricably entwined in the history of Winton, to the modern day, this talk looks at the jewels of a nation made famous through Queen Victoria’s love of the country and its applied arts.

Following Clare’s talk, you can enjoy a glass of fizz whilst browsing some beautiful items of jewellery Clare is bringing along.
